Did you know that Sand Lake Ambulance receives less than 50% of its revenue from the Town of Sand Lake and now the Town of Poestenkill? The rest is from health insurance reimbursements, direct pay from those transported and fundraising from the generosity of others that can provide financial assistance. They have already raised $25,000 of their $50,000 goal.
For many years, some Poestenkill residents - those with 12018 zip codes - have received letters asking for donations from Sand Lake Ambulance even though they were not providing service in our town. That changed July 1.
A Poestenkill resident shared their recent experience with Sand Lake Ambulance:
“I recently found myself in need of EMS and I am happy to report that Sand Lake Ambulance was there for me. They arrived at my home in the hamlet in what seemed like a flash; it was fewer than 20 minutes. They instilled my confidence in their competence by their professional and kind demeanor and words. They listened well and took my concerns into account. They were equipped to get me safely through the tricky passageways of the second floor of my 19th century house to the street below. The ride to Samaritan Hospital went well and I felt very much attended to. Thank-you, Sand Lake Ambulance and thank-you, Town Board of Poestenkill.”
Sand Lake Ambulance notes that maintaining their ambulances and critical life-saving equipment costs thousands each year. Community donations are what keep them going. If interested in donating, here is a link:
